The electric drill will only seed up the stripping process.

Get up close to the screw. See if there are metal bits clogging what's left of the screw head. If so clean them out with a small pointy tool like an icepick. Then make sure the screwdriver is well seated in what remains of the screw head. A light tap or three can help here. Keep the screwdriver well aligned and pressed in tight while carefully turning .

If it is well and truly stripped you may have to cut the broken plastic part away from it and grab the screw with locking pliers

A cut off wheel in a dremel tool can cut a slot for flat blade screw driver. A jewelers file can be used if you don't have a dremel tool.

You can put a thick rubber band over the stripped screw head, then press your screwdriver firmly into it. The rubber fills the gaps and often gives you enough grip to turn it out.

Heat up the screw with a soldering iron for a bit. The heat should help loosen any rust or glue, making it easier to take out.

It's not terribly clear how much of the item is to be replaced. Is it possible to Dremel away some of the material around the screws?

I've used electrical tape and it works for me. I found this video last month when searching how to remove those stubborn stripped screws.
