This old German tool

I've been trying to identify a strange German hand tool for about five years now, and I'm still stumped. I got it from a guy who used to work on trains and steam engines and even he had no idea what it was for. The tool is marked with "DRP," which tells me it's a pre-1945 German patent and it also has a number 1 and a logo that is not clear.

I've shown it to a bunch of engineers and machinists but they've all been just as confused as I am. It's a really fascinating piece of history and I'm determined to figure out what it does. What kind of obscure tools would a steam engine worker have? Have any of you seen anything like this before in your travels or antique tool collections? I appreciate any leads or ideas you might have!

Sounds like you've got a tool for fixing up old steam engines, maybe from the German railway days (DR or DB). The DRP stamp means it's a German patent from before 1945, so it's probably for older steam trains. If you know what kind of trains your contact worked on, it could point to what the tool was used for. Like, if they worked on Class 01 or 44 locomotives, that could give some clues.
