new tools, Milwaukee vs Snap On

time to upgrade my hand tools. I want to replace all of my tools, cause they’re all used to be my dad’s and he has had them for decades. I'm already all in on Milwaukee (M18/M12 FUEL), and they absolutely smoke the Snap On cordless stuff I've used.

But for hand tools, everyone says Snap On is still the gold standard, often US made, and generally just the best. The problem? I'm not a pro mechanic on a tool truck budget.

I need advice guys, how do Milwaukee hand tools (sockets, ratchets, wrenches, etc.) stack up? Should I stick with them for the red loyalty or is the quality a huge step down from their power tools?
Also, what are the best value brands that get close to Snap On quality but not price? I need heavy duty stuff for tractors/farm machinery, plus working on my project cars and bikes.

I swapped out my dad’s old tools last year and went mostly Milwaukee. No regrets so far. For value, I say ook at Gearwrench or Icon for stuff like breaker bars and deep sockets. What size drive do you use most? that can help with your choices

Snap On tools are top shelf, no question, but the prices can sting if you are not wrenching full time. Milwaukee’s hand tools are solid for home garages, farm work, and side jobs. They might not have the same feel or precision as Snap On, but they hold up well for most people. I would stick with Milwaukee for your power tool setup and slowly upgrade a few key hand tools when you find something better suited for heavy daily use.

@farmer Red loyalty is great for power tools, but their hand tools are just okay—they are not in the same league as their fuel line. The ratchets are decent, but you're paying a premium for the name on average quality steel.
For your use (tractors!), look specifically at the Pittsburgh Pro line from Harbor Freight for big, high torque stuff. Great lifetime warranty, and they take a beating

Milwaukee hand tools are good, but they don’t match the reputation of their power tools, some users find them less durable, especially for heavy duty work
