Looking for better pliers with a smooth locking system

I've been finding my DeWalt pliers a bit frustrating lately. The locking mechanism isn't as smooth as I wish it was.

Does anyone have recommendations for a better set that features a clean, dependable locking system? I'd love to hear about your favorites or any suggestions that have worked well for you

I've faced the same problem with DeWalt pliers, the locking mechanism can feel a bit sticky. I decided to switch to Knipex Cobras, and I haven't regretted it. They're really smooth and have a great grip. Have you had a chance to check out Irwin Fast Release or Malco Eagle Grips? What type of work do you usually use them for?

DeWalt makes great power tools, but their hand tools are mid-tier at best. If you want reliable locking pliers, go with Irwin or Knipex, they are way smoother, longer-lasting, and actually designed for pros

Yep, Knipex Cobras are a solid upgrade, smooth and grip like a charm.

Sometimes it's just a little maintenance that makes all the difference. A tiny drop of light oil on the pivot points and adjustment threads can improve your pliers. Give it a try first before buying.

Try Craftsman locking pliers. Had those before. Loved that thing.

hi @steel&wood if you want something that has a great value and really delivers on the locking system, I'd highly recommend the Milwaukee Torque Lock pliers.
Their quick release lever is super responsive and the adjustment screw is very smooth. It's a huge step up from the generic feel you might be getting

My Choice is between Kimpex, Channel Lock and Craftsman, have been using them for most of my professional career. Started with Channel Lock and Craftsman then added Kimpex Cobra and Wiha Soft Grip. Found the last two did things with less damage and better grip in some cases.
