Favorite Toolboxes

So I'm looking on FB Marketplace for toolboxes, but it seems they come in all shapes and sizes.

I've been eyeballing a basic toolbox that can hold all my stuff, as my wife would come and borrow a screwdriver, and never return it. I just found a number of Allen wrenches and other misc tools in your boxes as we reset the rooms. I think it's time to get a toolbox.

I've also see Harbor Freight have some great looking ones, that are new. They have a 30" drawer that even comes in purple, which is different for sure.

I like the Series 3 line of boxes at Harbor Freight. I just picked up one, actually, in white.

I am new to this forum, but I am going to voice my opinion. In my working career, 40 years as a machinist, mechanic and welder fabricator. For the machining part of my job I have used a Kennedy 10 drawer bottom, 3 drawer middle and 8 drawer top box, that I still have and use in my home shop. It is about 50 years old and still in excellent shape. I bought it from a retiring machinist a year after I started my first job. Next is my Grizzley green 10 drawer bottom and 6 drawer top that I also still have and use in my basement HO train/hobby room, that the wife/children/grandchildren all use. This box is 35 years old other than replacing some of the drawer liner foam. Now for the newest toolboxes that I own or have owned. Kobalt 56inch Stainless top and bottom, that was bought when moving to new employer, owned for 20 years, found NO problem or complaint. Was given a MAC and Snap-On boxes by new employer plus fully stocked with MAC and Snap-On tools, I CANNOT say that I have that much good to say about toolboxes but the tools were excellent. I have MAC, Snap-On, Cornwell, USA Craftsman and other Quality tools. I have nothing bad to say about Harbor Freight boxes as several of my co workers have and use them, plus a lot of Grizzley boxes along with Dewalt and Milwaukee.

just want to say that before you buy, think about what you actually need to store.
a simple toolbox on wheels is great for a starter set. A bigger one might be tempting, but a half empty toolbox can feel like a waste of space.
My advice for you probably to get something with a few more drawers than you think you need. You'll fill it up faster than you expect

I agree with KirrOyale That you should buy as big a box that you can because you NEVER have enough space!!

For the wife borrowing tools problem, maybe get a small separate kit for household stuff? that'll probably save you from digging through your main box every time someone needs a screwdriver
