Choosing the right metal cutting tool

I was handed a small but tricky task recently and it requires me to find something to cut metal. The piece isn’t massive, but it’s not thin sheet metal either, it’s more like sturdy tubing and a few flat bars that will need clean, accurate cuts for a small project. I don’t have a dedicated metal cutting setup yet because up until now, I’ve only dealt with wood and basic DIY jobs, so my tool collection is light on the heavy duty side. I’ve started looking into options though but I guess I could use some help and I don’t want to overspend on something overkill

Hacksaw works fine for precise small cuts, while an angle grinder can handle thicker pieces quickly. A jigsaw with a metal blade is good for curves or thinner metal too, no need to go overboard with heavy duty tools for a small DIY project by the way

For me I would use an airsaw with a number of fine tooth blades. Next would be a die grinder with a carbide burr and small diameter cut off wheels, I have several air powered and battery powered die grinders like the size of dentist drills for doing tool and die deburring and polishing. The one battery powered one I use on my model railroad layout has a three foot flex shaft was from Harbor Freight and came with a small tool box of burrs, drills and cut off wheels and was very reasonable priced.

@FB-eye here's a thoughts for you OP. if you want something that still works for wood, try a reciprocating saw (Sawzall) with a metal cutting blade.
It's slower than a grinder but much less messy and safer if you clamp the metal down tight. or even better, get a DHandle Circular Saw and put a dedicated metal cutting friction blade on it.
It gives you cleaner, straight cuts than the Sawzall on flat bar, and they're easy to find used.
